Transport Thursday 1/27/2022
Sitting in airport in NOLA. The original flight was cancelled. Next available non-stop flight leaves at 7pm. A few thousand things are going through my head. Did I do such n such? Did I forget to do such n such? Did I forget this or that? Is the new hospital bed going to be better than the old one? On and on. I need to give myself a pep talk and settle down. LOL I’m afraid a fellow passenger may notice I’m talking to myself and have me hauled off to a mental ward.
On a serious note, it really feels like the 9 hour transport has a good chance of happening without too much confusion. I am concerned about mommas comfort level during the ride.
Harshed Buzz, if you happen to see this, I want you to know that dad found a great realtor! It’s a husband and wife team and they are accustomed to working with older people. I’ll meet with them tomorrow.
Wishing you all well and a peaceful evening.

Safe travels. If you do get hauled off for an involuntary psych-hold try to reframe it as some "me time".
Great news on the Realtors. I hope they're as good as promised; a great realtor can smooth things out for you via the phone. The ones we had in Florida were exceptional; the ones we had in Maryland were traveled by clown car.0 -
Thanks Emily for the encouragement!
HB, you made me laugh twice!!!!
The ME time & The clown car!!!! I currently have two plumbers at my house and they arrived by clown car. The carpenter stayed on just to watch them!

ABC, I hope your transport goes well and you don’t run into too many issues. Pep talk...you can do it, you can do it, all will be well, I’ve done my best! Now some deep breathing and meditation to get you the rest of the way. Best wishes sent your way!0

UPDATE: We made it safely to my house. I still can't believe we're here. It went off with out a hitch. The company Ride N Safe was incredible. They did everything they said they would do. The driver was super nice and experienced with dementia patients. It was relatively easy to change mom's diaper in the van. It was a Dodge Caravan with a ramp in the back, double sliding doors-all automatic. We gave mom a good breakfast and an Ativan to keep her calm. The driver loaded her up and off we went! We stopped several times for diaper checks and water. No food on the road because the last rode trip at Easter time, she got very car sick. Hospice and the new sitters and a couple of friends were waiting when we pulled up. Within 10 minutes they had mom in her bed all tucked in. She slept most of today. I fed her small amounts of creamed banana's today, milk and plenty water. She was parched! She had a few tiny bites of a sandwich. She's asleep again, hospice said to expect that.
The new day time sitter stayed over last night so I could sleep. She will start tomorrow 7am to 7pm shifts. She's a younger lady with 12 years of dementia experience as a CNA. Sweet as can be and my dogs love her. Loki, who weighs about 85 pounds, really likes her and wanted to sit in her lap. Hank, also about 85 pounds likes her, but he is more mellow and realizes the world does not revolve around him, unlike Loki. AND mom responded well to her.
I'm tired out but I'm extremely grateful for so many things. I have prayed more in the past week than I have in the last three months. I have stood on my faith, the way I used to do everyday. I've been living on a wing and a prayer. God has led me thru circumstances this past week that were mind blowing. I am richly blessed and highly favored. As always, you are all in my prayers. I hope you have a better day tomorrow.

Abc - thanks for the update. I am glad it went so well. How about your dad?0

Honestly ABC,
This crazy idea of yours is one of the most amazing things I’ve heard about while on this site. You should give yourself a huge pat on the back for pulling it off. It wasn’t easy but you made it look easy.
I’m sure it was because you used the two Ps : Planning and Prayer!

That's wonderful news.0

How wonderful it is to read this update. If I were to hire a care manager for an LO with dementia, you would be the person! I hope anyone who has an LO some distance away writes the name of that company down.0

OMG! I just wrote a very long update and it disappeared into space.
Long story short, my sister is a money grubbing witch. My brother's mental condition is deteriorating.
The good news is mom is close to her baseline again. Today is day 5. She is talkative and very alert. My dogs go up to her bed and she pets them on the head. Dad is still in Texas dealing with selling the house. He has made a lot of progress! I'm very proud of him!
Any body interested in an extensive collection of millefiori glass???? About 406 pieces!!!!UGH!
Hope you all have a good day. The weather here is beautiful.
