Another work around.

My husband became very confused while watching TV thinking he was at work and needed to fix something. A walk did nothing to make him forget nor did a snack. I made up a big basket of laundry and put it on the bed and asked him to fold it. He agreed but was still talking about fixing something. I asked him if he wanted music on while he folded and he agreed to it. I put on country music on a fairly high volume. I think the combination of music and a job filled up all his brain cells and there was no room for obsessing about work. It has now been 4 hours and he hasn’t mentioned it.

Gig that was a big  win!

Iris, thanks for that insight. My husband is always asking me questions and I think I have to answer each one, by the time I try to he’s already asking something else and seems to have no interest in answers even though he struggles to get his words for the questions. Thank you.

Gig Harbor, your idea was brilliant! I often use music to distract, and then try to distract with other activities. I haven't tried folding clothes yet, because DH never did that and I used to think it would frustrate him. But we may have reached the point where folding towels may keep him occupied. I'm going to have to remember to try it .
