meal supplement shake with low sugar

My DW will not eat almost anything,  She has been taking the ensure or the walgreens protein plus shakes 3 to 4 times a day.  But she is prediabetic and her blood sugars are high the last few days.  Anyone have a preference for a low sugar shake or foods that I can get her to eat?

She has eaten some oatmeal in the am and a little applesauce, but not much else.

My sister is prediabetic and her doctor has told her to drink Ensure, it does have too much sugar. She got the low sugar high protein ones at Costco and puts it in blender with fruit and a couple pieces of ice to make it more like a shake. That seems to help her. I hope this helps.

Smoothies are tasty and can include all sorts of nutritious foods.  Just google smoothie and you will find many recipes online.  I like to use skim milk, plain yogurt, banana, and berries, but you can add kale and other veggies.

One hint:  green bananas contain more starch and less sugar than riper bananas and are better for diabetics.  The starch turns into sugar gradually, not in a rush.

Another hint: The easy way to clean a blender is to fill it with water and run it.

Carnation Instant Breakfast has a low sugar formulation available in supermarkets.  You may have to doctor it up to increase the protein.

Orgain is a much better product, in my opinion, and has way less sugar.  Also, if your DW is at home and you have access to a blender, I agree with Stuck in the Middle.  Smoothies are an excellent choice.  Find a good quality protein powder and add some low glycemic fruits like berries.

You can also puree meals in the blender.
