Getting involved

I learned that it’s important to involve my dad in activities. So I setup his radio so he can listen to music when he’s tired of watching tv. I invited him to watch his games shows with me. I told him that I’m taking my girls to ride bikes and asked him to come along. First of all, my girls and I were in the back yard. I came in and told my dad that we’re going to get the bikes and come around the front. So dad went out the front door. I went out the back and got the girls and their bikes and gear. This wouldn’t be a problem, except that we have a security system that alerts my husband, who’s at work, when the front door opens. So he saw that my dad was wondering around in the front yard. He texted me and I had our oldest daughter text him back that dad was coming with us. But I didn’t know that he also texted his brother who lives with us and was upstairs, not knowing what was going on. So he came outside following my dad and calling his name. So I told him that dad was going with us and thanked him for looking for my dad. Then we go down the street to a church parking lot and the girls ride their bikes. My youngest daughter got tired and wanted to go home. We get home, and dad checks the mail and goes in the front door while the girls and I go to the back to put away the bikes. We start to leave the garage and my dad comes out the back door. We tell him that we’re going back in and start walking toward the house and he still walks out the back gate towards us. The girls go in the house and my dad tells me to go in front of him. I wanted to go in last to get my keys and move my car so my husband can get his car out of the garage when he gets home. Well I go in the house. My youngest daughter goes for a snack that’s on the shelf right behind the back door. Dad opens the door and I tell him to watch out and not hit her with it. He just stood there and I had to tell him to go on through the kitchen so I could get back out the back door. Oh my gosh! So much work for one short bike ride.

I set out a game and a puzzle for my dad and my girls to play with together. He played tic tax toe a couple of times and then he watched my girls play.
