crazy six days!
My 91 year old mom has been in a group home for almost four years. It used to be a pretty good place and then the best caregiver quit because of the toxic culture created by a few people in management. My mom really declined after they hired some very sub par people (I cannot call them caregivers because they don’t care!) Last Wednesday I went to visit mom and she was not good, and I have seen a sharp decline. I know my mom and know this was not the normal aging. The staff just performs basic care and has very little interest in engaging with residents. Staff sit around, are on their phones, and eat all day. I decided then and there I was going to move mom back to her house. This was a herculean effort, and I cannot believe I accomplished it. A photo of her a week ago compared today is incredible. The caregiver that quit is now taking care of mom! Mom is eating better, her color is back, she is sleeping better, and she’s happy. Priceless. After four weeks of a lot of stress and worry, I might actually get good nights sleep tonight.

This warms my heart! She looks so happy. This is something I'm struggling with right now and everyone tells me just to except the decline my dad is experiencing in the facility he's in. I'm happy that you were able to change things around. I hope that you are able to keep giving her the best care possible and she's able to live out her life as happy as she looks in this picture.

What an amazing opportunity that you were able to hire her former caregiver. What a wonderful child you are to accomplish that.0

What a blessing of a daughter your mother has. Job well done! You have given your mother a priceless gift with a greatly increased quality of life. It is amazing that you were able to hire the good caregiver who worked with your mother, it must make all the difference. I can well imagine how much this means to you too.
Let us know how it is going, we will be thinking of you.
