A bad infection

My dad has a bad infection in his lower jaw bone. He’s being transferred a couple of hours away by ambulance and I’m going to follow him there.

My dad has shingles. He needs to get his eyes checked and probably get his hearing checked within the next couple weeks.

I got my dad home today. We were in our local ER 8am-8pm. Then he got transferred. We were in the other ER 10pm-1am. I still need to pick up his prescriptions. I came home and took a nap after I ate lunch. We got a hotel room and headed home at 10am.

Hospitals are just mobbed these days, aren't they?  I'm sorry you are having such a trial.

My dad has a son by his first marriage. He was raised by his mom’s parents. He’s 10 years older than me. He grew up in another town and has never lived with us. He has always been more like a cousin to me than a sibling.

My dad has bought him 3 cars in the past 10 years. He has made a couple trips here to get things m my dad’s house after my mom passed away 4 years ago.

He will be without internet or phone service from time to time. He loses his job or his house often. He currently doesn’t have a phone, a car, or a home. He moved to the city and got a job, but he has been scammed several times. He was scammed out of a house and is now living in a motel and has his things in storage. He lives with his wife and her mother and a roommate. They tend to control him and take over our conversations.

Yesterday, last night and this morning, his mother-in-law was messaging me. She wanted me to pick him up last night or this morning. We got to the hospital there at 10pm and he got released at 1am. I didn’t want to pick him up this morning either because I just wanted to get home.

She said that I need to take my dad to see my brother because he worries about him. I told her that they could come here too. She pointed out that she drove him here the past 2 times. I told her that my dad doesn’t travel anymore. She was trying to guilt trip me and it just made me more angry. I don’t need that on top of everything else going on right now.

My dad saw the eye doctor this morning. He has cateracts and needs reading glasses. But he has no shingles in his eye. He got his hearing tested today and has significant hearing loss in both ears. He got hearing aids that are helping him tremendously. Tomorrow morning he goes back to Oklahoma City to see the oral surgeon. I don’t know if it’s just a consultation or if they will do surgery right then.

My husband and my dad are back in Enid now. This was just a consultation. He has an appointment on February 28th to get all his teeth removed. He doesn’t need to have any of his jaw ground down, so that’s good news!
