Bible Verse to Lift You Up 2/7/22

Only Seeking God's Presence, Nothing More

**
Psalms 42:1 NIV
"As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God."

*

me: Let's often make plans to visit with our Lord, just so we can sit at His feet and soak in His radiant presence. Some ways we can do this are through prayer along with reading and meditating on the Word of God. We might not always feel spiritually energized, but we have pleased our Lord and Savior....and isn't that a most worthy goal?

*

When I was a caregiver, I was always asking the Lord for help, and I was thankful the Lord answered my prayers. Yet, I wonder if I ever took time just to enjoy His presence, be thankful, and worship. God is faithful to us so let's be faithful to Him. You and I must decide to make time to pray, converse with the Lord, and read His Word on a regular basis because our souls long to be in His presence.

thank you for this verse, VKB. Today was a challenging day (still is) in caregiving for my Mom (93 with mid-to-late stage dementia) and I asked for God's help numerous times in all the languages that I could think of. Yet, I try to be thankful knowing there are many more situations worse than what I am dealing with. And I pause and pray for those going through the worst.  But this verse to me, means that's not the right kind of thankful to be. Being thankful doesn't mean just because you're being spared a more worse situation.  But it should be because "you are being in God's presence and He in yours."

Because I was having a rough caregiving day, I was going to post the question, who prays for the caregiver? I was taught in my faith to pray for the less fortunate, the sick, the hungry, the sinners and the lonely, etc.. But I often wondered who prays for the faithful caregiver who have bad things happen to them? We don't seem to fit into the major categories of prayer intentions..  In other words, who prays for me? But then it sounded selfish. Yet, my mom before dementia would always tell me that she prayed for me and maybe that's why I felt strengthened and protected. And could face the world emboldened by the fact that my mom has got my back spiritually. Now, she doesn't have the mindset or the memory to pray.  So maybe I feel a little less strengthened and not very protected. I guess after all these years, I am just realizing that there's Nothing like a mother's prayer for her children.

Anyway, I see by this verse that I should not only lean on God's mercy but I should also savor His presence and be thankful that He let me "be" in this world as crazy good or crazy bad as it can sometimes be. I'll try to connect with Him on that level from now on. So thank you again for the verse. God bless you always.

Hello VKB and Heyd. I recently started reading the Bible and yes I agree it helps me so much to feel Jesuss presence and I do long for him. My Mother also prayed for my family and me before she got sick. I also believe I was taken care of. So now I pray for my family when I go to church and for me as well. I do forget sometimes about myself. But I am getting better at not forgetting myself. Thank you VKB and Heyd! I feel so inspired to continue reading my Bible and praying. Have a blessed day!!

I want to say I pray for the caregivers every day. So many are going thru something that sounds so much harder than I have.  I also pray for those who have it so hard but don't know the Lord, cause that's where my help comes from. When I am at wits end is when I find I pray hardest.
