Hi PacificIndian - welcome to 'here'...

Don't know how far along your person may be, but maybe some soft or favorite music and staying with your person for a just a little bit?  A stuffed animal to hold onto?

Are they able to verbalize at all what may be making them fearful?  an old fear of 'something under the bed - or closet?'

The bed may be cold. Sometimes I put my dh's hot pack (heated in microwave so it's warm but not too hot) in the bed a few minutes ahead so it feels cozy.

I got my mom a stuffed bunny and OH how she loves that bunny! I got a few more stuffed animals and she has stories about them all but loves the bunny the most and talks to him to comfort him (I assume really comforting herself.) On the evenings she asks me to stay in her bed I tell her I have to clean up some and when I'm done I'll come climb in with her after she's asleep.
