Poem for Valentine's day

Crushed

Valentine's Dawn 2022

 The pretty girl sits in her chair

  With bright blue eyes and soft brown hair  
She was my friend,  lover and wife

 She built with me a golden life

Now she sits, her thoughts are gone

I think of her at every dawn

 I think of poems I wrote for her

While she was sleeping I would stir

 And think of love and life and care

 And think  she would always be there

 But life does not work out that way

 And suddenly there came a day

 The truth that I had always known  

Her spirit left me all alone

Crushed, I'm so sorry. Your love and care for your wife have been evident in each and every one of your posts. 

DH and I didn't routinely commemorate Valentine's. But every time the superb Scottish singer Karen Matheson comes on Thistle Radio (the 24-hour channel for Celtic Music on SomaFM) with the Robert Burns song "Ae Fond Kiss," I dissolve into a wet mess.

For us the Valentines day song was a recording that came out after we were married

Crushed, DH and I sing that song along with Alexa almost every night after we’re in bed. It’s on our playlist. Beautiful but these days it’s sad.
