Yep, I am a granny. And a very excited granny!

Yes, its a boy. His name is Maverick.

All are doing well. It is so nice to have something to celebrate. DH is thrilled and excited and joyful. It is such a wonderful change in dynamic.

I feel like DH and I are on a parallel journey with the new parents:

    1. We are learning as we go.
    2. We adapt.
    3. I don't get much sleep.
    4. When DH is agitated, I don't always understand what he wants, because his verbal communication is not always clear. I start exploring the basics:
      1. Is he in pain,
      2. Is he hungry,
      3. Does he need the bathroom.
    5. I buy gadgets that I hope will make my tasks easier:
      1. I just bought an adult diaper disposable system.
      2. I just bought Munchkin Miracle 360 no spill cups.
    6. I am constantly doing laundry.
    7. I check in with others in similar circumstances regarding stages and behaviors and products/strategies that work (or don't work).
    8. I beat myself up when I make mistakes.
    9. I am amazed by this person that I love beyond words.

Congratulations!  I’m so happy you have something to celebrate.  Hopefully grandpa will be able to enjoy Maverick for a while, and hopefully this will bring Grandpa and son  a little closer together.  Becoming a parent gives a whole new perspective on one’s  own parents

LT - Congrats! Adorable! And your analysis of the parallel paths is right on point. I would add, parents and caregivers do our best and let life/the universe/God/our higher power do the rest! I'm happy for you all to have this breath of fresh air right now. Wishing for the smoothest path possible, in the future.

Funny LT,  last night I was musing myself about the similarities of my caregiving life now to when my kids were toddlers.  This is not as much fun though, the overlay of the downhill slide is quite different from the optimism of knowing they were going to grow up (and that, itself a blessing, because they were both healthy normative kids).  There will be an end to this, too, but a harder one of course.

Congratulations again.  Maverick is an illustrious name for a Texan....

Dear LT, Oh joy!!! I'm so happy for all of you! I logged on tonight especially to see if you had posted! Congratulations! Babies are wonderful. My mom got to meet her 4 month old great granddaughter recently, it was a beautiful time. We laid the baby next to mom in the hospital bed. The baby grabbed hold to one of mom's pinky fingers and wouldn't let go. Mom was smiling during the entire visit.

Sending all of you happiness and good wishes!

Congratulations and enjoy!!  There is NOTHING that compares to holding and cuddling a newborn.  NOTHING!  I envy you; our last “newborn” is 7.
