New here - resources in FL?

Hi everyone! While trying to find some resources in FL, I came upon this. My grandmother was diagnosed about 2 years ago. I am honestly not sure what stage she is in -  I would guess mild still at the moment. She is extremely limited financially, and I am trying to find resources to help pay for home health to assist her in some daily activities. She lives alone currently, but seems to be declining to the point of needing some assistance. I am completely lost in the sense of if she is eligble for medicaid. She only has medicare. If anyone knows of any resources in Florida, I would love to know and I appreciate it in advance.

I will add this has been extremely rough as everyone already knows. I have two very young children of my own, and a full time job, so I am very overwhelmed and stretched thin most times. Unfortunately her diagnosis has also affected her mental health, and has hightened her depression to the point of no longer wanting to be here, but has stated she will not harm herself.

Hi Alyssa.  Certified elder care attorneys can be very helpful with getting her legal documents on order (do you have power of attorney, for instance?) and with sorting through the proper financial steps for getting her qualified for long-term Medicaid.  Well worth the cost, and many offer an initial consultation without charge.  You can look them up by location at nelf.org.  Place to start....most in your area should likely also be familiar with local resources.  Good luck.

This is the first step. Contact elder affairs in your area of Florida and they will help you figure out what she qualifies for.

Let us know how it goes as this will be my next step. I am also in Florida.
