My sister in law was the caregiver for my brother for 8 years until he passed. That was 7 years ago. She passed last night from dementia, but her's was not alz. She was jubilant through her whole journey, dancing with staff at the MC, and loving life like she always did. They should all go like that.

I'm sorry for your loss Ed.  Sounds like she went the way she would have wanted.

My parents both had the luck to drop in their tracks from heart attacks.  No long goodbyes, but how lucky they were--and my brother and me too, frankly.

Sorry about your SIL, Ed, but it sounds like she was blessed to enjoy life most of the time.  Wish it could be like that for all of us.

Thank you friends. If you have to have dementia, I guess you could call her lucky. My brother had his angry days, although not all the time.

Thank you for the posts. I can't begin to tell you how much money she raised for charities. It wouldn't surprise me if it was in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. She has been active in charities most of her life.

Ed I sure am thankful for those who help raise money for the charity's. I worked for a non profit for 6 years. 2 years in a row we worked a month with no paycheck.  I drove 27 miles one way everyday trusting that something would happen. We keep the trucks running to pickup food to feed the less fortunate. I learned to trust God and that he has a plan. So often we never knew where the money came from just when it seemed there was no hope. You must be very proud of your sil.

Ed, I am sorry for your loss.  “Happy” is a good way to go through life.  To remain happy until the end is enviable.  I wish you comfort and peace going forward.

Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.  Anne Frank
