How much is gas in your areas?  I heard it's over $7.00 in places.

Do remember that the key driver of the price of gas is the recovering economy. That increases demand much faster than supply +

Gas prices were higher in 2008 until a stiff terrible recession knocked them down

As of Tuesday morning, the average national price for a gallon of regular gasoline touched $4.17, according to AAA, the highest price ever, not accounting for inflation. That was up from $4.07 on Monday and $3.61 a week earlier.  The previous high was $4.11 on July 17, 2008, according to AAA. That would come to around $5.25 today when adjusted for inflation.

Refinery capacity contracted in 2020 , however consumption fell even more so prices declined

the United States had 18.4 million barrels per calendar day (b/cd) of petroleum refining capacity, also known as operable atmospheric crude oil distillation capacity. U.S. refining capacity had reached a record high of nearly 19.0 million b/cd earlier this year, but several refineries have closed since then, and capacity fell to the lowest level since May 2016.

So capacity reached a high in May of 2016 and a low in 2020.

I haven't forgotten. I was driving trucks for a non-profit, diesel was 4 plus.  This is the highest I have ever paid for gas. 4.69.

People often comment here that they need to take their LO for a drive to distract/entertain them. I know I do and it's costing a lot more to do so.

This morning, I was watching BBC Worldwide News.  The report was that the cost of filling an average gas tank in Great Britain is now costing 90 pounds which in American dollars is, $117.80.

Here the price of gas for our heating system (natural gas) has double in january.

For our car, it's not still doubled but from 1,4€/liter to almost 2.

Hopfully I fill my car about 5 times per year. I will wait.

I like my bicycle (see my sweatshirt today)

The tin man's oil can from The Wizard of Oz is being auctioned with a starting bid of $200,000.  Might be worth it if it's full of oil.

Stuck this is off topic, but did you know that Buddy Ebsen lost the role of the Tin Man in the movie? He had to quit when he had a life threatening reaction to the silver makeup. Don't think of him as a song and dance man but he was. Ok I'm done...
