My DH has been doing this since he had his stroke . Not all the time just some days. I have also notice before the stroke one side of his face would swell up and be a little red. I told the Dr. about this and was told nothing to worry about. They said it was his salivary glands that get block. I'm sure he is maybe having mini strokes . Is this a sign of them or could be another cause ?

Drooling can be a consequence of stroke.

The blocked salivary gland is a separate issue. If there is swelling, pain, redness, or even fever, the PCP should be notified. When a salivary gland is blocked, there would be no drooling on that side.

My DH has had this issue since his brain injury from encephalitis for 12 years now. It is likely that your DH had damage from the stroke to the cranial nerve that controls swallowing, taste, etc.
