Midwife For Souls. Spiritual Care for the Dying. By Kathy Kalina. This book was written for hospice workers and all who live with the terminally ill.

It's only 145 pages, its an easy read. This book helped me tremendously when my husband was dying from cancer. It's helping me now as my mother nears her death. It helped me to understand about death and the dying. I hope it will help others.

Sincerely,

abc123

    Thank you ABC!

Many years ago I worked in a nursing home, I truly enjoy most of my patients. My biggest problem was getting too attached to so many of  them. I saw too many people bringing their mom or dad to the nh and never coming back to check on them or even visit. The sadness thing to me was when one of “my friends “ passed away, I stayed with them until the morgue came, and I went to the funeral home, picked out their coffin. No family came. The undertaker and I, we were all that was at their funeral! It was as if they just didn’t exist for the family.

Death has never been a scary thing for me.

I have never forgotten those beautiful people. I was raised in some not so nice foster homes, so in a way those forgotten people became a family for me. As I said that was many years ago.  There should always be some one who cares.

I don’t know why I’m telling you this! Something about that book that brought those memories back.
