DW has said it before and tried to leave . But stopped her and she forgot what she was trying to do.    Today she keeps saying she wants to go home. Made it out the door 3 times and I caught her 2 other times. Told her she lives her- no help there. Told her I was her husband and I thought she was mad before.  I'm glad I have alarm on the door - going put a lock on it up high when I can get away or have son pick me up 2  for front and back doors.   I got cussed out good.    Normal ain't normal anymore.   Can't tell what is going to happen with her. This is the worst it has been.    Maybe take her for a ride later if she will go.

Think I will put mirror on wall in my room so I can keep an eye on her.   Never can tell what could happen.  Hoot619

Hoot619 your in the right place and welcome as some say to the club that no one wants to join. I put locks up high on my doors and they do not need a key, you just need to know how to maneuver than to unlock. They confound most pwd. They are called defenders bought them at lowes just under 20$. My dw hasn't figured them out and it's been more than a month. I take lots of rides with my dw. And lots of ice cream she hasn't gained a pound either. Over active never stops.

DW must have tried to leave about 10 times today, I called my son to come over and while he was here; told her we live here. She didn't agree on that.  Actually she talked more today

Just now she is in her right mind, she went to sit in her chair and 1 yr. old Springer beat her there  She got a kick out of that.  I told her supper was cooking and she understood me.  Today she could let me know how she felt-Wanted to go home.Usually when she wants to tell me some thing she can't get it out. This darn* disease is puzzling.  I go to a lot of meetings and I see that is going to end. Don't dare leave her alone after today.   Thanks for the info on door closure.  Hoot619

Hello Hoot,  Just a couple of notes on things I have found successful.  A low dose of seroquel, prescribed by her neurologist, frequently takes the steam out.  Still wants to go home but is much less emphatic/militant.

I always agree with my DW.  "Yes I want to go home too, but we have to wait because......"  The car needs fixed, I have appointment tomorrow, the plumber is coming, there's storms tonite, we can go tomorrow, etc.  She will not remember in 2 minutes what you said so you can repeat or give a different excuse.   Always agree and be sympathetic, I want to go too but ....

Relationships are no longer in her world.  Sometimes I'm her dad, or just a guy who's here.

You cannot argue, logic is gone with memory.  Agree, delay, divert.

Good luck, its a long road, see an Elder Care lawyer to get all your paperwork in order.

    Rick

DW was ok after all that happened and it lasted till she went to bed.  I had high hopes when I got her up just awhile ago.  But just normal times right now.  Normal ain't Normal but better disposition today. No problems so far.  DH is doing better too.
