My momma is still with us. Eating only baby food, drinking water, milk and fruit juice. Sleeping most of the time. She knows me and my sister, sometimes I'm not sure if she knows who dad is. She seems so depressed and disgusted in general. I got to spend 5 hours with her today without a sitter and I really needed that time with her. The only distraction was when dad would come in the room for a few minutes. I fed her twice. She was clearly in pain, could not get comfortable. A few times, she moaned from the discomfort. I gave her a dose of pain meds and it helped. I told her I love her. She whispered to me that she loves me and called me by name. That was wonderful to hear her say my name.

Thank you for the update ABC. It's hard isn't it, so very hard. I'm glad you got to spend time with your mom, and that she told you she loves you. That's good, very good. Sending thoughts of love your way.

agreeing with BassetHoundAnn - and that most folks can't realize a caregiver's world.

    ((hugs))

I am glad you were able to spend that time with your mom, and it's wonderful she said your name and told you she loved you.

I am keeping your mom, you and your family in my thoughts during this difficult time.

I’m glad you got that  time with your mom,  I’m also glad you and  your dad got some time with no one else  in the house but the three of you. Too many extra people around in my home stresses me out after a while.

I too am glad you had that peaceful moment abc.  I have a feeling I'm always going to remember the sunset walk we took the night before I took my partner to the hospital.  Her last night at home.

abc, I don’t have to remind you to cherish those moments of intimacy with your mom.  My DH, in MC since November is nowhere near end of life, and yet I can’t recall when he last said my name or whispered that he loved me.  Our “ visits” consist of me holding his hand and chatting “to” him, with no reaction on his part.  Sad.  Thinking of you and your family at this sad time.
