I am LT. It's time for me to join in this discussion

Greetings.

I'm LT. I have been posting on the Spouse & Partner Caregiver message board for a while. My DH died on April 5, 2022 so it's time for me to be here. Here's a little (o)bit about my DH:

Jesse passed away peacefully at his home, with his wife at his side. Jesse’s life was full of adventure, shenanigans and love. Those adventures took him around the world, living at times in Trinidad, Tortola, Italy, Syria, Ireland, Venezuela, as well as Galveston, Lampasas, Austin and finally, Kerrville, Texas.

During his short life, Jesse was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, nephew, son, brother, good neighbor, veteran of the Army Infantry, side kick and faithful friend.  He can be described as rule breaker, risk taker, loving, mischievous, handsome, caring, smart, generous, funny, adventurous, thoughtful, animal lover, gunslinger, speed racer, danger seeker, dare devil, music lover, superhero, life saver, a fine fellow, Lutheran, scuba diver, rancher, shrimper, auto enthusiast, realtor/broker, entrepreneur, business owner, Alzheimer’s Warrior and the love of LT’s life.

His greatest legacy is his son, Jesse and grandson, Maverick.

I am heartbroken. I miss DH dearly. I feel so very lost without him.

    Hi   Lady T,

This is Lady Z  Welcome to this decision room as you will see there are a few of us here that still post on the other boards. In 9 days my DH Dan, passed away 4 years ago. Your Jesse sounds like a wonderful man, husband, and a angle on earth. He will be missed by a lot of people. You were a wonderful and loving caregiver and wife to Jesse. You will miss him terribly but believe me it will get better. It just will take time.

Now it is time for you to heal. You need to rebuild your life and believe me Jesse, will always be part of your life, his spirit will always be with you. When Dan first passed I always knew he was with me especially when I was driving, because he was always telling me to slow down and so many times after he was not there I could still hear him telling me to slow down and a few times I responded.  So don't be surprised.

You will cry you will be lonely, but that's O.K. we are still here for you. So you post on any board you want too, but please stay with us.

    Hugs Zetta

Sorry you must be here Lady T. Jesse sounds like an amazing person and I know you lost a lot when he died, but as Lady Z said, he is still with you in spirit and still taking care of you.

I hope the weeks, months and years ahead will bring you ever closer to recovery from your time as caregiver and healing your heart from your great loss. .

Hi Lady T. My sincerest condolences on the loss of your husband. My heart aches for you and us all that have endured this loss. It was obvious how much you loved your Jesse in your posts about him. I am deeply sorry.

I am new here as well, I lost my Dad on March 17th. I come back everyday. This place held me through the journey, I only wish I had found you all sooner.

    How are you doing?

Dear LT, I liked your line, "it's time for me to join" and I feel that way, too. Condolences on DH passing. Alzheimer's took my mother 11 years ago so it's really high time for me to join in the conversation. It was 10 years caring for her, another 10 years to reflect on her passing and write about it. Next month the memoir I wrote in her honor is being released for publication (I don't do things fast), Alzheimer's Fantasy in the Key of G. Her dementia was a sort of fantasy trip.
