CERAD-NB test

I haven’t found a clear explanation of the CERAD-NB test my wife took yesterday. Her score was 46, and I don’t know what that means. Can anyone share some info?

The CERAD-nb (neuropsychological battery) is a composite score of about ten separate subset scores on various neuropsychological tests, including (depends on the country how many sub tests are included):  verbal fluency, Boston Naming Test, MMSE, Word List Learning, Word List Recall, Word List Recognition, Constructional Praxis, Delayed Constructional Praxis, and Clock Drawing.

The maximum total score (best score) is 100.  A score of 46 would support an assessment of significant cognitive impairment.  The score is not used in isolation, but is part of a comprehensive assessment for Alzheimer’s disease.

I recommend that you discuss your questions with the person who ordered the test, as that person would likely have access to the complete assessment for your wife ( which may, as yet, be in progress).

Best to you and your wife.

Thank you, Marta. That's exactly what I was looking for.

The other test she had this week was the MMSE, which I understand. Her score was 17 last time, and only 10 this time. So I guess the disease marches on...
