Clearing the UTI should help his cognition. Hang in there!0

Hope he is feeling better soon. Any type of infection can cause cognitive (and other) issues. Hopefully, when the infections are cleared, you will see some improvement. It may take a while.0

The double whammy of infections could wreak havoc on him; he may or may not bounce back. I believe he was recently denied for hospice according to another post. I would keep in touch with hospice now and have him re-evaluated as soon as he is out of quarantine if he hasn't improved. This would be the exact kind of "change in condition" that may qualify him. Hang in there. I have been in this exact same position; it's no fun.0

M- so sorry to hear about this double whammy and all that you and your LO are dealing with. Just when we think it can’t get any worse...
If I were you, I would seize the moment and call hospice right now. This sounds like your best chance to get him qualified for that support and you surely need it right now. They may have some options to evaluate him immediately even though he has(?) or recently had covid. I’d call 2 or 3 hospice providers if necessary to get his current condition considered (didn’t intend the tongue twister alliteration there).
Good luck to you.

You are absolutely correct, Butterfly Wings. Today the day was spent with him in the ER with his aide because of his UTI. He couldn't pee and had bad pain They wouldn't let me in because he still has COVID and she lives with him and I don't. I felt so bad for them both. I felt I had let my dad down by not being able to be there.
And not being there and talk to a nurse or a doctor about his condition. Thankfully, they didn't admit him and he is home with a foley catheter and a new antibiotic. But I will have to talk to the doctor tomorrow about prescribing a visiting nurse to come and take out the catheter because he won't be well enough to go out to a doctor's office. I don't think they would want him if he is still testing positive.
