Hello everyone, my mom has very late stage Alzheimer's and I wanted to share a poem with the community about my experience of the disease.   I appreciate hearing from those of you who can relate.   Thank you.

Alzheimer’s

Saying goodbye to someone alive

Difficult to find the strength to thrive

So many memories but so long ago

The decline is irreversible and slow

7 stages to the disease

None of which are ever at ease

Alive but really dead

Alzheimer’s is worse than you’ve read

You try your best to support

But reality never fails to distort

Power of attorney meant to protect

But all you really want to do is forget

Missing your mom in good times and bad

Never there when you need her so sad

So much guilt can drag you down

The disease makes you drown

Hoping there will be some peace

And a cure is found so Alzheimer’s will cease
