BE JOYFUL, REJOICE!

Philippians 4:4-8 GNT "May you always be joyful in your union with the Lord. I say it again: rejoice!

"Show a gentle attitude toward everyone. The Lord is coming soon. Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus.

"In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable."

*

There is so much good advice in the above verses.  It starts by reminding us to rejoice.  Jesus has done so much for us and is still with us, so yes, we rejoice!  Let's be gentle and kind toward all people.  This pleases the Lord and also makes our hearts sing.  We can trust the Lord.  He knows where we need Him each and every day, so worry is not necessary.  God gives us His peace in union with Christ Jesus. We are also reminded to keep our thoughts pure and positive.  In just a few short sentences we are given a way to have a joyful and peaceful life.

When I read these verses, I am always reminded of the world's equivalent :  positive thinking. Of course, God's take is so much more. Having joy in all circumstances comes - at least in part - from being able to look out the window of life and seeing, not just the road ahead, but all of eternity.  Those who follow Jesus know where they are going.

    Thanks sis.
