Every small win gets followed by a bigger hurdle
Just venting a little, again...It seems like every time I overcome a caregiving hurdle, a new one is right behind. Such is the Game of Dementia, I suppose...
Get that POA signed. Done. Win! Doh! It's not valid to sign for her to sell her home due to absurd real estate laws where the property is. Ugh.
Incontinence getting worse. Finally convinced her to wear depends, first at night only, now pretty much 24-7. Win! Now she's just lazy (or just doesn't realize it, hard to tell, maybe a little of both) and would rather wet herself in the depends instead of using the bathroom. This causes the depends to leak and wet her clothes, the furniture, etc. Ugh. (Constantly prompting her to use bathroom, etc. is only slightly helpful, unfortunately). Now put pads down anywhere she sits just in case. It's the new decor around here...
These are just a few examples. And I know some of you are going through much worse, and it's certainly going to get worse for me, too. But talking about it here makes me feel a little bit better. I love her and I'm doing my best to take care, but dang it can be so frustrating at times.
Sorry for the rant.

I totally understand how you feel - and ranting is definitely required. I am constantly chasing down one thing after another. Sometimes I am simply amazed how a new issue/challenge comes up when I was fully convinced that I covered all the bases.0

Hear that! Definitely a maze.0

All of this -- so true! And ranting to people who understand just feels good sometimes.
Every time I have a success, I think - "Ha! Take that, Alzheimer's! I win!" Alzheimer's beats me again - usually over something that never occurred to me could happen. I end up feeling like that Chumbawamba song "I get knocked down, but I get up again, you're never gonna keep me down!"
It really is never ending.0
