New member looking for support

Hi. I’m new member looking to chat. I’m 73 and am my Moms primary caregiver. She is suffering from final stage heart failure and vascular dementia. I’m feeling overwhelmed and alone. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thx !

Marks, you've come to the right place! This is a helpful and supportive group. So many of my questions have been answered just by reading, but when I post a question the responses I get are kind and informative. I feel like I've found true community here.

Glad you found this group, but sorry for the reasons you are here. What stage of dementia is your mom? Do you have any support from family or a caregiver?

Hi Marks - Welcome to 'here'...   Do you have any assistance at all?  You can also check out the 'solutions' tab above this forum and read other posts.  Agree - caregiving is hard and can leave you feeling alone. Has your mom been evaluated by hospice?  It may be possible to get some respite care from them.

Hello - I'm sorry you are feeling overwhelmed. If you tell us a little more about your situation, we may be able to offer suggestions/helpful tips.

    There's also the Alzheimer's Association helpline - 1.800.272.3900.

Marks1948 - Welcome to the forum, ask all you questions.  Folks here have deep and wide experience and always willing to share.

My nickel:  If you haven't, immediately get the financial and legal affairs in order.  I recommend working with a Certified Elder Lawyer.  (Yes, yes, yes it will cost money but you get what you pay for.)  Getting the financial and legal items sorted will provide you some breathing room to deal with the other issues.
