A tough time.

When I was immersed in the process of helping Mom to the end of her life, fighting off the sorrows of the world was often an impossible challenge. Surrounded by a hateful disease whose sole purpose was to kill my mother I did my best to accept her slow dissolution while conjuring laughter and love to make it all bearable for her, and as much as possible, for us too. When the outside world added its own horrors it was too much to bear.
The last few months weigh particularly heavy on my heart; purposeful, senseless death waged on our fellow human beings both here and abroad. The hope that we will ever be a kinder, gentler species seems all but lost.
Why is this poring out of me and into this forum? Why am I pontificating on something you may or may not be feeling? Because today I stopped in my mental tracks of bemoaning the state of the world and reminded myself that I have connected to virtual strangers all over this planet who have listened to my frustrations, sorrows, joys, and successes, and responded with kindness, compassion, encouragement, and support.
I thank you for the reminder that there is goodness and decency among us. This community proves humanity is still present when hope wanes.

I was driving along today and a really slow car got in front of me. On the back of the car was a bumper sticker reading, "Make America Kind Again." The driver promptly pulled over and let me pass, and somehow that momentary kindness really stuck with me.

Thank you Lickety, I agree and have been feeling the same thing.....the world is too much with us these days.  With me, anyways.

Dang girl, You got some words there! You a writer fer sher!

I place much value in having an online respite with people here in similar circumstances. I am glad you feel the same way! I had some clients who wanted to talk about the school shooting in Texas. I did not want to hear it. But then one of my clients who is a retired police officer clarified me on what happened there. It made me very sad and angry all day. I am glad today was a busy but shorter day.

The world is too much to bear any more and adding to the stress of being a caregiver will make anyone feel the way you did, and I do often.

You can acknowledge where you are at mentally and emotionally. Do you know how many people cannot?

Lickety, thank you for making us a light in your life!

It's weird to say "I'm glad I'm not alone on this" 'cause I wish none of us were feeling this way, but once again your empathy and understanding responses tells me we are kind, we are always capable of kindness, and there's so many of us not just on this forum, but worldwide doing the best we can.

Well! That's enough run-on sentences from me today! Thanks for everything my fellow caregivers.
