Child of ALZ patient living far away from him

Hi this is my first post. My father has stage 6 ALZ and lives in CA, and I live in PA, 2500 miles apart. I'm having trouble coping with him being so far away, not being able to call and talk to my dad, plus his diagnosis is recent and the onset was crazy fast (4 weeks) due to mini strokes. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

I’m sorry, this a really tough situation for a far-away child. It might help others respond if we knew a little more, like who is his caregiver there (sibling?spouse? Your parent?) and where is he living now, hospital, facility, home? Can he FaceTime? (Many PWDs at that point can’t, but many do with help)

Are you not able to talk to him because he doesn’t make sense or understand you? Or can you not contact him or the caregiver at all?

Hi Suzie - welcome to 'here'.  So sorry for your news, though.

Is there someone there that could help him with face-time via phone - or Skype or Zoom meeting?
