Questions about EEG

My DH had an EEG a couple days ago and the results are shown in his portal online but haven’t heard from the neurologist yet. He is probably late stage 6.and still trying to determine if ALZ or FTD. The results on the portal show the impression is “normal” and “This is a normal EEG capturing wakefulness. No focal abnormalities or epileptiform activity were present.”
Has anyone here has experience with this type of test?

EEG's generally look for occult seizures MM, and it sounds like they didn't see any. It can't distinguish between Alzheimer's and FTD to my knowledge.0

M1 is correct; the EEG cannot diagnose for type of dementia.

Thank you for posting this- my husband has one scheduled and I was curious what it will tell us. So - M1 and Jo C. - is an EEG just for ruling out other causes of memory issues?0
