We had our 1st visit with the neurologist

I am  happy to say it was a good visit.  DH was diagnosed with mixed dementia  CMS-HCC   The Dr asked if he had ever had a traumatic brain injury.   There is evidence on the CT scan that he did at some time.  He doesn't remember one nor do I know of one.  It also looks like he has Alzheimer's.    He prescribed  quetiapine to help with the sundowning and we will be seeing a Geratric Psychiatrist to start.   So we begin this part of the journey...........

Progress. That's good to hear. One suggestion as you start down this road of "better living through chemicals" is to try not to introduce two or more new prescriptions at any one time. If your LO experiences any adverse side effects, it will be hard to know which drug is responsible if 2 or 3 were introduced at the same time. My DH's geri-psych is pretty cautious about that, but he's had a couple of other docs who were not.

M1 gave me that same advice about not starting 2 meds at the same time, I thought it was good council. From what I have seen from other posts, new behaviors can and do present when a med is added. Bf I hope the meds will give you some relief from the sundowning. I started my dw today on depakote for the same reason, sundowning ect.
