Thank you all for the support for MC move day

We did it! Thank you all so much for the support along the way. May Flowers especially you. Yesterday I started the story. Told mom that when the apartment next door to hers was being worked on they messed up something with the plumbing and the water would be cut off today. We would have to make a temporary move, but it could not have been at a better time since I found the perfect place for her. She could bring her dog, do daily exercise, meet people, do activities, go on outings, have her own apartment….. She was thrilled. Of course she didn’t remember the story but we kept telling her over and over. Today she went out with her caregiver and then with my aunt while we packed moved and unpacked her things. My amazing friends helped us move her stuff. My wonderful daughters set her room up beautifully. They even had taken a picture of how she had things in her bathroom and set her things out exactly the same. Then I picked my mom and her dog up and took them to the MC community. The staff welcomed her like she was famous. We sat on the patio and had lunch and got to meet all of the staff. They doted over her. And the chef even brought her a plate of fancy fluff a nutters (peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwiches) for later. After lunch they took her and her dog for a walk. I gave her a hug and told her I would be back with my brother (who will be visiting from out of town) tomorrow. She was excited for this news then walked off to join the staff.

My heart broke and I wept outside when I left of course, but it is ok. She did amazingly. The staff loved on her like crazy. It was a hard day, but a much harder month of preparation and not knowing how today would go. Thank you all for the support along the way.

Thank you so much for sharing your journey. You have done amazing work, and I appreciate the wisdom from you and all the others in your posts. I am about a month or so behind you and your courage has helped me commit to a plan sooner rather than later. For that, I am grateful.

Daughter80, I’m so glad to hear the move went well! I imagine you are feeling all sorts of emotions now, it’s a hard thing but it sounds like a wonderful place and thoughtful caregivers. Hopefully, she’ll adjust quickly and make friends
