Update on the one year Residency/Occupancy Agreement

A quick update on the one year lease agreement for the Memory Care center that we are considering.  I found out that any continuous care facilities located in this particular state that are licensed with the CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community) are required to have a one year Residency/Occupancy Agreement.  I have also learned that the administrators of these facilities have been known to make addendums to the agreement for some residents with some negotiating.

The place is full with a waiting list.  I know...  I know...  maybe the residents want to get out, but can't...   well, not according to the references I have spoken with.

I am still learning more about this.  To be continued....

Hopefully there is a contingency that could be written for your LO so that if it is not a good fit you can at least give a 30 days notice. That seems fair to me??

    Good luck along the way.

And no matter how nice the community, someone with dementia wants out…. Hopefully that doesn’t sound too morbid. The last visit I had at my mom’s MC a man name Rusty (resident) told me he was gonna get over that fence.  (Said as he pointed to to the fence outside). He’s a pretty happy guy and seems to always be. I told him there was no way I could clear that fence and he agree he would splat if he tried…..Always a story to tell after a visit.
