I can lie about my age!

So, it was a very hot day here in the midwest.  I was outside hanging up laundry when DH came out and asked if I needed help.  (he offers, but is incapable of actually doing anything that would help).  I politely told him thank you but I was doing fine.  Then he said that he doesn't like it out here like he did when he was 20, meaning he didn't like being outside in the heat.  Anyhow, I turned to him and said well good thing I'm 20!  (I'm 59).  He looked at me and said yea, that's why you can be out here!!

I chuckled to myself as he walked back into the house.  Pretty soon he came back out and said, hey, you're not 20 you're 37!

That's a win in my book!!

Age is something difficult. My partner was always adding about 6 years to his age. In fact he had no idea of his age and answering randomly but always more. Perhaps he was feeling old ?

We never discussed about my age, I will ask , I am curious.

That’s a big win! I’d take 37 any day.  And the fact that he offered to help you, there has to be some empathy there.

That was funny! We always say that when our LOs say something hurtful, even though we know it's the disease talking, we feel bad about it. I see no reason why you can't feel good about that one.

LOL, that's a win!! I'm afraid to ask my wife, she my guess my maturity age. Now that I think about she had purchased me a sign for my work shop that says:

Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional.

Cstrope - you made me laugh!

For a while last year DH would ask me how old I was. If I answered my real age (54) he'd look at me in horror, and say I was lying to him and there was no way I was THAT old.  If I said 20, he'd say there was no way I was that young. He would settle for an answer somewhere in the 30s.

    If only.

Thanks a bunch for sharing this! I really enjoyed laughing out loud! Thinking back to my 37th birthday, my daughter thought I was ancient.

It is always great to share moments like these. I'll take 37 in a heart beat.

Yes, be careful in the heat - we're in it also. My east facing patio is 111 degrees. Crazy. The dog wanted out & when I opened the door to let her out she literally looked up at me, turned around & went back to her bed! Can't say that I blame her.
