Jm I have had several friends who have had good luck at Auburn Hospital geropsych unit. Another took her husband to one of the Franciscan hospitals and was able to get him transferred to Retsil in Port Orchard. She is happy with the care they are providing. Maybe you will have more luck finding placement at a VA facility by going through a nonVA hospital. Good luck and praying that this works out well for both of you.

Victoria and Gig - Thanks for the suggestions. I'll definitely need to find a work-around to secure the VA benefits DH is entitled to without giving up every every shred of dignity and self-determination I believe is our due. Today and tomorrow I'll try to formulate something of a war plan moving forward. Once DH returns home on Monday it will be more difficult to find these times of cool resolve and clear thinking. I'm certainly not giving up. I've lost a battle, but not the war. Everyone here is my tactical support squadron and I appreciate it.
