Hospice recert
Hospice came out for a recert evaluation, according to the NP, looks like he will be kept on another 6 months.
I honestly was a little nervous about being dropped because my FIL eats so well, but increased agitation, worsening ability to stand, falling, and losing the ability to feed himself came into play in the decision. I am glad, I love our nurse and she is so quick to address issues he’s having.
I also like having the medical bed, pressure pad, Geri chair, hoyer lifts, and supplies, I was estimating at least $1,000 a month extra costs to cover it. On top of the private caregiver.
Phew.

I’m sure that’s a relief. That he’s done so well is a testament to what good care you’ve given him.0

Glad you'll have the extra support and supplies.0

Thank you M1 and Fesk. I feel weird being glad over such a sad thing, but the support means so much to us.0

You got a 6 month recert?! We do that every two months. Getting ready for another one, yuck. We can’t seem to get mom weighed. I’m trying to figure out how to get some contraption in here to do it. Three of us try holding her up which isn’t an accurate weight anyway. She’s losing her muscle memory with the walker, bummer. I’m getting the hospital bed delivered tomorrow. Since hospice is providing it hope we get recertified.
The dichotomy with needing, wanting, hoping for hospice services and wanting our LO to be healthy is complex for sure. Glad you have continued support from hospice as you move ahead with your journey.

M&m - I think it is 6 months? I need to make sure. It is going on 6 months since he was admitted so I just assumed.
I can’t believe you are having to weigh your LO, they gauge weight here by upper arm circumference. Those measurements seem to change from nurse to nurse so I don’t know how accurate it is.

May Flowers, I'm so glad that you are able to still get the extra help with your FIL while trying to figure out how to ease his agitation. Keep hanging in there! You are doing great from the little that I can see.0

Mayflower, it's good news when you get another 6 months. They make so much available it's hard to imagine you would have to do that by yourself.
M&M, my wife just passed four weeks ago. The bed she was in in the hospital had a contraption where they weighed her while in bed. They didn't even have to move her. You might ask if something like that is possible to get through hospice.

Ed i’m so sorry for your loss. I didn’t know… my thoughts are with you and yours. I hope you’re ok.
Thank you for your response also. I’ve seen those contraptions. Not sure if they’ll bring one in to the home. hmmm.
May… they also measure my moms arm circumference. It hasn’t changed much since the beginning. Idk, just an obstacle to hurdle.
