Sling for commode use - hole or U?

My SO can't stand up anymore so I can't transfer him to the commode by myself. Will start to use the lift but can't decide what kind of sling to buy: the one with a hole or the U-shaped?  I've been reading Amazon reviews and it seems people can fall through the ones with the hole, while the U-shaped ones are pricier and harder to adjust.  Definitely want something easy to wash and dry by machine. Any recommendations? This is for doing number two. Thanks for your advice.

My dad has said quite a few times since using the lift, wait I’m slipping out this thing or I'm falling out this thing because his butt area does fall into the hole a bit more as I make the lift raise. I mostly use mine to lift him in the air to do a quick, full bed change. We have the round hole one that came from the medical company that supplied the hospital bed and lift.

We like the u-shape in that it is so much easier to get on him in the chair, and very easy to connect but it does not launder as well as the standard mesh ones. Having said that, we have had the same problem getting him adjusted on the toilet, DH and I were just talking about this last night, and I think the problem is when you hook it up to a standard hoyer lift, they lay back too much. For now, when I transfer him from bed to chair, I have to hold the handle on the back as I am lowering him to ensure he is sitting all the way back in the chair.

Indeed they do. Just talked about that in another post. I have given up on any videos on how to use the lift. They need to use real people/patients that are actually bedridden and not someone that is trying to mimic a bedridden person. 

Says in the reading on the second link, "for users with good core stability and muscle tone."

Yes, the reason is that type of sling requires the person to be able to sit up hold their head up. My u-sling has a stiff headrest  which works well for my FIL who can do neither.

Hi Janhu, is your SO able to use a Sit to Stand machine? Would need to be able to hold on a bar as it lifts the person into a standing position. The person is supported with a sling which supports the back. With this machine you can maneuver on and off commode, wheel chair, in bed, out of bed. This would be easier than a Hoyer lift. Would only take one person to maneuver.

Not sure about the sit-to-stand, but don't think so.  He's is generally non-compliant with requests. But is able to hold his head up.
