Arm sleeves

Hi All!

Any suggestions for arm sleeves to protect mom from scratching herself?  The sleeves the facility uses keep slipping down. She has a bad tear right now. Her dementia is too far gone to reason with her to stop scratching.  I've looked at couple on line.  Thanks for your help.

I have a friend who used to repurpose her old running tights by cutting a (head) hole in the crotch and wearing them as a long underwear top.

Perhaps you can fashion a jacket like top out of some old tights, sweat pants, etc. by using the legs as sleeves and leaving just a bit of material across the back.

    BethMimi,

I have 2 suggestions if the others don't work out.

    1. DermaSavers - (www.dermasaver.com/collections/arms-hands) Soft, foamy covers to prevent injuries to various body sections. There are a number of arm models available; the zipper model may be more snug to prevent slipping. The Uncle uses them on his legs to prevent shin injuries - they have worked well for years. (They also keep his socks up and act like warmers.) He is a Vet, so the VA provides them.

    2. Sleeves for lymphedema / sports care. (www.brightlifedirect.com/collections/armsleeves)    You would not need a pricey, high compression garment. Jobst Farrow Soft Arm Liners (non-compression) at ~$23 should do the trick. Not as easy for the lady to yank off. There are other companies that sell these garments as well, but with Bright Life, there's free shipping and code KELLY10 at checkout will get you an extra 10% discount.

    Good luck!

If you look on Amazon at sunsleeves, they might work for you.
