It just occurred to me

We talk quite a bit of memories we have of/with our loved ones. It just occurred to me that when I'm gone, those memories will also be gone. Just like they never happened. That's a sobering thought.

I think they will be gone too. Sobering indeed.

Ed, think of it this way.

When you die, the memories will go with you to where you'll be reunited with your wife.

You and she will have eternity to create more memories.

I miss Sandy everyday and memories of her keep me going in this realm.

I have no doubt we will be reunited when I die. I look forward to dancing with her across the Universe.

I agree. I just ordered our grave marker. On it it says "Forever together". When it comes in, maybe I'll post a pic.

I agree. Those memories are half gone, now, and many mean nothing to anyone except me now. The little inside jokes, known only by the two of us, is what I miss the most. Like kids cutting up in Church, there would be a dig in the ribs and stifled giggles. One of our favorite inside jokes was from a Robert Crumb comic book back in the mid-sixties. I'd ask DH, "Hey Mr. Natural! What does it all mean?" He never missed a beat with the reply..."It don't mean sheeit..."  I tried that recently when DH had tried to tell me something that made no sense at all. "Hey Mr. Natural!" No response. The memory was gone and so was our little giggle together over the absurdities of life.
