I saw my husband!
My husband goes to bed around 7pm and doesn’t get up until around 8am. Usually we just say good night and hug and kiss each other. Last night he put his hands on side of my face and looked me straight in my eyes and said I hope you know how much I love you. I have always loved you and always will. His eyes were clear (not that far away look I usually see). It was my husband that was looking at me! I wanted to cry and say please stay. But I know he has no control over this darn disease. But for a precious moment he was here with me.
I just had to share this with someone that truly understands.

Joy, I'm so happy for you. My wife said something similar before she passed. Put that in the win column, never to be forgotten.0

That makes it all worth it and you won't forget it.
Sister and daughter were here yesterday, on their 2d time to the house DW was able to listen, laugh and join in conversation a little. It made me so happy she got some enjoyment for a while. To hear her laugh, it was so nice! Hoot

If you saw him once you will see him again, try to think about you were feeling and thinking when he had that response. Maybe your behavior drew him out ? I'm glad you saw him and I hope you see him again.0

A moment to treasure and a very hopeful moment.0

Beautiful!! Our LOs are in there, somewhere, yearning to come out. Such a wonderful feeling when they break through the tangled web inside their brain. These lucid moments are what keeps us weary caregivers going.0

Sorry, Crushed. I know at some point my DH may totally get lost in the labyrinth of lewy bodies...for now, if the hollow fearful eyes recede and his old bright brown eyes reappear, I will hold onto them for as long as I can. Then I'll retreat to a corner and cry until tears subside.

That is wonderful!!! Try to hold onto that. He does love you. We have to remember that love is always there somewhere even if buried deep.0

Those glimmers of who they used to be are like a gift. Today, when I visited my husband, we were entertained by a singer who played guitar. The man looks like a hippy gone to seed, with long white hair. He sang one song to a woman who is barely verbal (but can sing songs that are stored in her brain). When he finished, she said to him, «You’re such a nice girl.» My husband laughed out loud. He realized that the woman saw the singer’s long white hair and associated that with females. It made my day to see my husband understanding the humor in that.0

What a lovely moment. My husband will tell me he loves me, the moment is fleeting but I appreciate it. It happens less and less but when it does happen, it is like the brush of a butterfly wing. I have learned to just live the moment and let go. I am glad you had that moment.
