Financial management softward/process input

Hey, y'all.  I am POA and manage my Mom 86 and my early-onset age 62 brother's money matters.  I pay all the  bills, etc, as well as our own personal finances.

I want to keep all 3 "household" financial matters completely separate.

I'm great at admin stuff but thought I'd ask if anyone is using some awesome software / apps to manage money for loved ones?  You don't know what you don't know!!

There's a lot of stuff out there; most financial themed magazines have online articles about current options.

I have a friend who coaches young adults around financial literacy and she really like Mint although Quicken would do nicely as well.

I used Quickbooks - it allowed me to have separate accounts for my FIL and us, and each linked to respective bank accounts which made reconciling easy.

There may be better options now tho!

I have used both Quicken and Quickbooks. They are different but both user friendly. Either will allow you keep keep finances separate.

I've also used Quicken and Quickbooks. Both are good. They let you import statements from banks and other financial institutions.

For my mom I use simply a spreadsheet these days to record her expenses as her Social Security representative payee and ultimately use for Medicaid. You can set up a simple spreadsheet with columns, rows in a word processor if you don't have Excel. The chore is remembering to enter all the things.

Beyond the spreadsheet I rely on old-fashioned file folders and a file cabinet.

I was asked by a CELA "why do you want to keep things separate". My response was that I wanted to keep my business my own, but I didn't consider that by being the primary caretaker meant my LO's businesses were now added to mine (although I responded with "they've overwritten mine", I had to be reassured it was "added"). You may need to use a spreadsheet application to manage portions to go to A, B, or C, but it all has to go though you now.
