Pharmacogenomics

I saw a discussion in the CTE Facebook group about genetic testing for the metabolism of some medications.  It is used to help select the ones most likely to help an individual patient.  Does anyone have any experience with this?  I found a general discussion on this Mayo Clinic website.

Mary, I can tell you it's pretty new and unproven.  Insurance doesn't usually cover it, and pharmacy benefits managers don't use it to decide what drugs to use.  It's still a crapshoot, pretty much.

Thank you M1. I appreciate your input.  Most of the articles I found were really just advertising bg labs, a definite red flag.  The FDA has some info but it’s not really a definite endorsement.  Probably too good to be true at this point in time.
