Long Nights

My 101 year old dad turns into another person once he goes to bed EVERY night. He talks, shouts, yells, etc. A lot of swearing about everything or gibberish that makes no sense at all. He is much more agitated and harder to deal with than during the day( and daytime is no picnic either). You can't talk to him or get him to quiet down. Starting around 5am he starts getting up every 15 or 20 minutes to go to the bathroom( except he doesn't really go ). The getting up trips to the bathroom can go on for 3 or 4 hours - even though he can barely walk and has to use a walker for every step ( you would think he would tire himself out ). Serequel, Trazadone, Melatonin, CBD Gummies, Tylenol - none have helped at all. He talks more at night after he goes to bed than he does all day. He acts more like a zombie at night than a real person

Is this behavior common? This has been going on well over a year now- will it ever get any better?

Sorry you are going through this. Have you spoken with his doctor? I would imagine they can prescribe something to help. Also, speak with the people at a dispensary, they may be able to provide a different product. I hope it gets better soon!

I am sorry to hear you and your father are going through this, ripscott. I recommend speaking with a specialist (geriatric psychiatrist) to try find the right medicine for him. It can take trial and error to find the right medication and dose to help.
