Another sad warning that disorientation and driving can end horribly

I saw mentions of his passing (music friends), but I didn’t pursue details. Thanks for this article.
What makes it worse is that he’d been lost driving and had problems before; people knew about it, and yet he continued to drive. I’m sure it would have been hard to stop, but at least they’d be alive. And that tragic, usual line about how they never drove far….sad, and a horrible way to go. He was so respected in that music community.

California City is a very small town in the middle of nowhere in the desert about an hour or so north of Los Angeles. No one just wanders around there, you have to be going somewhere. It would be easy for a young person to get turned around, because it's the desert! Desert driving is dangerous for anyone, you must have enough gas, also water and a means of communication in case of breakdown. 88 years old is too old to be driving in the desert, IMO. My condolences to the family.
