Dad got out of bed last night and walked

Sister hit me with the message as soon as I hit the door this morning. Viewing the camera I see he used the bed rail and another piece of furniture to steady himself all because he had to pee. Sister came in blazing, crying dramatically, and shoved the walker in front of him and told him to get back in bed. First time seeing him walk since the broken hip and he is so unsteady. Trying to see if the alarm was clipped on and guess now I have to look for the motion option for under the bed now. The only good I saw was he knew to grab back on as he got shaky. Of course, all the siblings were called.

Wow, that’s a hard one.  Lots of times mom would go without her walker unexpectedly.  She did have a few falls that may have sunk in.  Then fear of all walking broke loose and now bedbound. Hate this!

It is very hard; my nerves were on edge watching it play out. It was very VERY unexpected as right now we have to assist him getting to the bedside commode and wheelchair.

I mentioned it to the aide and now she wonders if we should stop helping him get up and/or whether we should ask the doctor for a sleep aid to put him all the way out. Right now, I don't like the idea of putting him all the way out or keeping him bedbound if not medically necessary.
