I dont know what i need. I feel so blessed i found ths group. Looking for support groups in Manatee Sarasota Fl Area and anything.  I feel so lost; its my dad

This group is great and so supportive, and a local is great and supportive in different ways. Without my local support group I'd still be shopping for facilities instead of walking the beautiful gardens with my dh.

Your local Alzheimer's Association will be able to refer you to local groups, or you could call Alzheimer's Association 24/7 Helpline at tel: 1.800.272.3900 for information about local groups.

I am sorry you are feeling this way. You should be able to search this site to find a local chapter in your area and support groups you can try.

Jill, welcome to the forum. Sorry you have a reason to be here. I have attended a local group, and the advantage I found with that is for local information. But overall, this forum or the one for spouse or partners has been much more helpful for anything else. You will get all of your concerns answered here, where time is a big concern for local groups. You can also ask questions here that you would not feel comfortable with at a local group. No subjects are off limits. I wish you luck, and hope you keep posting.

This group is best IME for practical advice and help. But if you’d like an IRL group, call your local/county Alzheimer’s Association. 

We’re also in S. FL, and there are many many IRL support groups. I do recommend calling though, because—especially in big tourist or seasonal areas—the schedules seem to change a lot, and national/umbrella websites may not be up-to-date, again just IME.
