Petscan show progress in 14 months

DH - 84, recent petscan shows progression from MCI to mild Alzheimer’s.

New meds in the pipeline may work!

How can u tell how fast the progression will be?

What can u do to slow down progression ?

Would Viagra help?

Sorry to pessimistic, but it's clear that there are lots of people out there promoting false hopes for dementia treatments. When our loved one develops this dreaded disease it is natural to want to believe in hopeful sounding therapies, many of which are very expensive. So I suggest keeping a healthy skepticism and doing some research. But for sure there is no harm, and many possible benefits, to exercise, healthy diet, lowering stress, avoiding alcohol, and mental stimulation like puzzles etc. Can't hurt, might help slow mental decline, and for sure will help with overall physical health. Wish there was a magic bullet.

Unfortunately, I agree with Bill.  Been here for years, people talk about the mythical "pipeline" that never comes up with anything.

There is nothing that will stop the progression of the disease.  All you can do is enjoy what time there is left, deal with the behaviors in the beginning by dealing with aggressive-type behavior medically and assertively so it doesn't snowball into danger for you or him.

Viagra?  Only if you want him chasing after you for sex, which as a caregiver is another exhausting chore to complete.  If your goal is to prevent Alzheimer's as some studies indicate, that horse left the barn years ago.
