Lassie, get help

For those who like heart-warming shaggy dog stories.
I was away for one night on a business trip. Our long-standing and wonderful aide stayed with DW.
The next morning, the aide was getting dressed while DW was still in bed. Usually, DW needs a lot of encouragement, and often support, to get up and out of bed. And we never let her descend the stairs unattended. Serious fall risk.
But on this morning, apparently DW got up on her own, and headed toward the stairs to go down to the first floor. Our English golden retriever, Emma, perceived some danger and positioned herself between DW and the first step. Emma then barked and barked, getting the aide’s attention. DW said, “Move, dog.” But Emma held her ground until the aide approached and took DW by the hand.
A possible disastrous fall down the stairs was averted. I knew Emma was an exceptional and smart dog—I take her to do pet therapy with children—but this was extraordinary.
Good dog, Emma.
PS: if anyone knows how to attach photos without them appearing upside down, I’m all ears. This is on an iPad.

Love that story, Jeff. Emma sounds like she's a keeper. Really kept your wife safe. Emma deserves a big hug and I'm sure she already has gotten one.

Emma is an eight-year-old, and certified to do pet therapy. For a couple of years, we would visit a nursing home every Saturday afternoon, till Covid came. Now Emma ‘goes to work’ with children, at a local public library. Thanks for righting her pic, Ed, however you did it.0

You're welcome, Jeff. I just took a picture of it, then posted what I had.0

Great story. My beagle doesn’t have much longer to go (soft tissue sarcoma) but she has been my best support through Covid lockdown and my husband’s illness. I’ve often said that dogs are the best people.0

Thanks for sharing that Jeff, my Saturday has begun with a smile.

Emma deserves another treat! I bet she loves those kids also. No such thing as a dumb dog depends on his owner, now that I said that I've been calling mine dumb at times. Think I better do some work with him, he's just 18 months old.
When we lived in Flint we had a bird dog that when someone came to the door and I wasn't home, Jan could tell if the person was OK or not. If the dog got in front of her she knew not to trust him. If dog stayed away from door the person was ok.
