Cleaning up bodily fluids

My husband has had diarrhea since 9/1/22. He has been seen by has physician and specialist and there is a plan of action. The real problem is he is leaving poop everywhere and I have to clean it up. I’m thinking of placement because I cannot handle his constant mess. Thoughts ?

Honestly, I think that would be too much for me.  My DH and I have agreed that toileting failures will result in placement, whether it’s him or me.  I know others here are more tolerant though.  You do what you think is best for both of you Tklbmom.

Does he have a pull-up style incontinence product? If that hasn't been tried, I'd try it, but if it doesn't work, I'd be shopping for placement options.

Given the information available, I say place him. No worries, no guilt. It’s the disease. It’s not a test of your commitment or endurance.

Incontinence is difficult.  Keep him in Depends or higher capacity disposable briefs.  If he "messes around" with the briefs, look into anti-strip clothing with zippers in the back of the one piece.  Look into an add-on bidet for your toilet.  It's a difficult situation, but once you get into a routine, "it's only poop."

    Cleaning and care advise:

Quickie brand microfiber, general purpose, 14x14 in blue.  Amazon has them.

Easier on sensitive body parts than paper products, and can be immediately rinsed to continue cleanup.  Shorty after use, rinse out and scrub in deep sink.  fill sink with a dash of laundry soap and a dash of bleach.  soak up soapy water, ring out, repeat for about 3-4 cycles, set aside.  Once all towels have been treated, run clear water and rinse and wring a few times to get all but a hint of bleach out of towels. Toss in machine and launder as usual.

This will give you a continuous supply of soft cleaning towels, and the bleach rinse kills germs and smells.  I have a stack of these in every bathroom, my cars, my 'away' bag.  As with many on this board, my gal does not toilet without me. Does not matter if we are in a store, restaurant, family or friend's house, or wherever, and I always have supplies on hand.

RobertsBrown, thank you for the suggestion. I just ordered a pack of 24. The 24 pack is $1 cheaper than the 12 pack. Twice as many. I’ve been looking for an alternative to paper products for cleanup. Agree that LO does not toilet alone.

Oh boy can I comment on this. I dig poo out of the sinks (kitchen and bathroom), clean up poo on the floor and do poo stained laundry. I admit now that I am totally done. Besides constant poo, there are numerous wake up calls at 6:00 am in the morning. Then the husband bites himself and screams, this is in spite of hefty doses of trazadone. So, I will be visiting homes and seeing what sort of selection there is.

I hope you can get some peace and hopefully with the right product, your problems will end. I use depends on my husband.
