Stuff happens

I am with my dw every morning for several hours and watch her take her meds everyday. This morning there was an extra pill and I mentioned it, the nurse said let me check and sure enough dw would have gotten a double dose of one med. I am thankful she was so willing to check and I am not mad at all. But it is good to be here for my wife because she doesn't know any better.

So you're still advocating for her. That's great. With all the people there are in facilities, you have to wonder how often these things go on unnoticed.

    Good catch.

At dad's MCF, all meds were distributed from blister packs made up by the pharmacy. On admission, we were asked to "proofread" them to be sure he was getting what he was prescribed.

That is truly frightening. One wonders how many other patients who don’t have family there checking  get the wrong medications. What steps are being taken to make sure this doesn’t happen again?
