Father having difficult time with positive communication with my mother

Hello everyone.  I am new to this group and excited to get to know others in this group.  My father is struggling with knowing how to communicate with my mother who has gotten more and more irritable with her diagnosis in the past year of Alzheimers.  Her sundowners is getting worse and my father just is not the most patient man when it comes to people repeating and not used to being the care taker.  They have been married almost 60 years and he is used to my Mom doing everything when it comes to the home and he is struggling to keep up and to come to terms with her diagnosis and how to communicate without upsetting her.  He prefers to speak to a group in person but understand these days there are only "online group sessions".  If there are any "in person groups" and you can share them with me, I would appreciate it so that I can get him involved as well as my Mom to give them both some outside interaction.

Thank you,

Michele

Michele, If you live in a city it's entirely possible that the local Alzheimer's Association has some in-person support groups. Another possibility is if you click the "Local Resources" tab at the top of this forum you might find something in your area. Using the Contact Us button you might be able to get more information, although in my experience they didn't have much I hadn't already found in the Local Resources.
