Newbie dealing with LBD - life alert system recommendation?

Hi,

My Mom was just diagnosed with probable LBD.  At this time she is still at home and I check in on her frequently and also have a Google Home system with cameras so I can see her when I am not there.  I also think we need some sort of life alert system, where if she slips and cannot get up that she can press a button or something for assistance.

Does anyone have a recommendation for such a system?  My Mom has lost her ability to read so any system needs to be really simple to operate.
I am working on getting her to agree to live with me, but I'm not there yet.....
Thanks

    Gwendolyn-

Would she reliably wear such a device?

After dad died, my mom (who does not have dementia) got herself a medical alert pendant and monitoring without my prodding her so to do. In the 3 years before I finally threw it out, I saw her wear it once. Reasons why she didn't wear it, even after she spent a week in the hospital sharing a room with a woman who fell through her porch floor and wasn't found for over 48 hours-

it messed up the neckline of her outfit

she wanted to wear a nice necklace instead

    she can't sleep in it

it gets caught on things when she's active

    she forgot

Instead, we got her an Apple Watch which has fall detection. She likes her watch because it's what the cool kids have. She can even wear it in the shower. I have her device linked to my phone and could track her if necessary. The downside is that the device needs to be charged daily.

    HB

HB, thank you for your reply.  My Mom did have a Life Alert for a while when she had cancer, and after the initial crisis, she stopped wearing it (even though us kids thought she should continue!)  Your idea of an Apple watch is a good one - the only thing is I am not sure if she would charge it/wear it.

The iWatch is a great idea. I’m going to get one for my husband and myself. Thank you for sharing.
