Physical decline: when and what to do

Mom is 89, likely Stage 5 AZ.

Recently she has become much less steady on her feet. Has had a couple of not-serious falls (lands on her butt).

I have a hunch she is begining to have AZ related physical decline. Her short-term memory is horible, long-term OK. Occationally disoriented (thinks she lives in a different city).

Q1: How can one determine if the newish physical problems are AZ or just a sudden old age affliction?

Q2: If AZ, what are the appropriate steps to take in terms of her safety? My reading indicates it might be a fast slide from this point.

Does you Mom have a physician.  If so these incidents should be brought to his/her attention.

Regardless of this being related to age or AZ, neither will get better.

Her safety is most important.  Can she/will she use a walker?  That can help for a while with mobility issues.

I would have her evaluated by a physician and then perhaps evaluated for physical/occupational therapy.
